Dr. Heather Hunter
Optometrist and Owner
Dr. Heather Hunter was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Regina on scholarship where she obtained her honours degree in Physics and later pursued optometry at the University of Waterloo in Ontario where she completed her Doctorate of Optometry with honours in 1999. She completed a clinic rotation at the Eastern Medical Eye Centre in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Hunter happily returned to practice in Saskatchewan and settled in Tisdale where she enjoys full-scope optometry from children’s vision care, senior care and ocular disease management. She currently serves her profession as a councilor for the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists and is actively involved at the local level, serving on Tisdale community boards and volunteer projects.
In her spare time, Dr. Hunter enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her three children Matt, Dawn and Gage. Her hobbies include hockey, golf, fishing, photography and travelling. Dr. Hunter gladly welcomes new patients and she looks forward to serving the people of the northeast area for many years to come.
Dr. Karla Hillis
Dr. Hillis is originally from Regina, where she studied Sciences at the University of Regina. She continued her studies at the University of Waterloo, where she graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry Deans Honour List. During this training, she completed an Ocular Disease and Therapeutics externship in Pinellas Park, Florida, where she managed glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and ocular health emergencies. Dr. Hillis also completed primary care externships focusing on pediatrics and vision therapy.
Outside of the clinic you can find Dr. Hillis rowing on the Saskatchewan River, cheering for the Roughriders, or playing cello in various music groups. Dr. Hillis is happy to be back in Saskatchewan and welcomes patients of all ages.
